Interior Design for a Pied-á-terre in Nine Elms

The Brief

Nine Elms is quickly becoming a prime central London location and it is clearly set to blossom as a new residential business district. It is located within walking distance to the Houses of Parliament, Sloane Square, Tate Britain, Battersea Park and the Kia Oval cricket ground. With the Northern Line extension set to open next year, it will take less than 15 minutes to travel to the City and the West End. Its location and improved transport connections are instrumental in making Nine Elms super accessible. Let’s not forget its right beside the River Thames for those lovely walks too.

Its location coupled with a 24-hour concierge service, health, fitness and leisure facilities made this apartment a very attractive acquisition for Tailored Living Interior’s client when looking to invest in a London residence.

From the onset, we established a great connection and rapport with this client. On brief day, it became very clear that the client loved classic contemporary interiors. In terms of colour, their over-riding preference was for a fresh and resting palette. They loved neutral backgrounds accentuated by a splash of colour.

In the children rooms, they were keen to have a degree of flexibility. The brief was to create something that the kids could enjoy, while at the same time guest adults would also feel at ease when they came to London with friends.

Planning Process

Our client happened to be in London during the design stage and we were fortunate enough to be able to meet them face to face. This, of course, has changed of late with many of our meetings taking place virtually on-line. It has in fact been working quite well too. It’s no longer an issue when clients are abroad and we are working in London.

During the planning stage, we realised that if we followed the architecture of the room, the natural area that should be designated as the seating space would only facilitate a small seating composition. Therefore, we created the illusion of extending the wall with a media unit. This works really well as this extra space facilitates additional storage. At Tailored Living Interiors, we love creating interiors that are not just beautiful but are also functional and practical. We believe that Luxurious Interiors and practicality should not be mutually exclusive

How it went

The project ran very smoothly as tends to happen when clients choose the right interior designer. We instantly connected and were able to read the style they were after. It’s instrumental for the success of an interior project to understand clients’ taste and preferences at an early stage. The brief stage was instrumental to help us pinpoint a style to follow and ensure that the interior is tailored exactly to their requirements.

Issues / Problems overcome During The Project

The implementation of this project started shortly before COVID19 and as a result, the building works were a little delayed from the agreed schedule. We also had some minor delays in the furniture supply. This was lucky for us as this meant we didn’t need to store the furniture whilst the building works were being completed. Furthermore, with travel restrictions, the client has not been able to fly to England just yet. He is nevertheless delighted with the images and looking forward to walking into and enjoying the space.

Client Testimonial

Tailored Living Interiors well and truly surpassed our expectations. The final interior is well and truly above and beyond what we were expecting. Having previously worked with other design companies, the level of professionalism we encountered with TL was well and truly amazing. We were delighted to receive detailed weekly updates from London. We would not hesitate in the least to recommend their wonderful service and amazing interiors to all our friends and family.
