The Brief
Located in the blossoming area of Nine Elms, this penthouse had just been recently built. As a typical new build, it was handed to our clients with all the walls in white colour, giving the apartment a cold feeling. In addition, all the light bulbs had a very cold temperature that reinforced that feeling. Tailored Living Interiors was given the opportunity to transform it, making it the warm and luxurious apartment that it is today. The interior design has been crafted to fit within the modern architecture of the space.
The brief stage for this project was a slightly different process than what we are accustomed on a regular basis. Our client lives abroad and was not available for a face to face brief meeting. As a result of this, the brief became even more image reliant. We had to take every possible step to ensure that interpretations were not lost in translation. On completion of the process, we were able to read them very well and it transpired that everything they liked had a very clean classic contemporary style and displayed an understated luxury. It didn?t take us long to establish their desired look, as everything they liked had the trademarks of a high-end residential design.
Planning Process
Tailored Living provided a full spatial design, interior design and project coordination for our client, a Saudi family. During the planning process, we produced more digital visuals and 3D drawings than usual and it proved to be really indispensable. We do design presentations at key stages of the interior design process in order to get our clients feedback. For this project, all the presentations with exception of the last one took place over Skype. The extra drawings and visuals with their correspondent annotations became really helpful to ensure perfect communications between the client abroad and the interior design studio in London. Clear communications allowed us to create a beautiful apartment, where not only communication was flowing but the rooms also had a harmonious flow with a timeless aesthetic.
How it went
The project went extremely well, with both the client and his closest family loving the interiors we produced. They now have a perfect home in London. For them, it feels like coming to a 5-star hotel within the comfort of their own home. Our clients are well travelled and have a taste for the fine things in life. It was very easy working with them when it came to choosing the furniture and fittings. All our suggestions were approved straight away which in itself was key to allow for the production of bespoke furniture within the very tight deadlines we worked with.
Issues / Problems overcome During The Project
The time frames that we were operating within for this project, were so short that it influenced our furniture selection to an extent. Usually, it is the style that our clients like and the budget that determines which furniture, fitting and finishes we propose. Here the lead delivery times were also a major contributing factor.
