Design week trends
With design month far behind us it can be easy to forget all the inspirational collections and trends that you’ve seen. Here’s TL summary of our favourite trends seen throughout design month that are too good to be forgotten!
1. Bold lighting – A statement chandelier is a firm favourite of ours at TL, we use them consistently to frame a dining table or seating area. Make sure to include shapes and finishes that complement the scheme and the lighting can offer a real ‘wow-factor’ to the final design.
2.Handcrafted furniture – We were more than pleased to see a host of suppliers offering bespoke furniture. This is an integral part of TL design; we love to create bespoke furniture pieces that fit the not only client’s brief perfectly but the space the furniture is inhabiting, adding character to the finale interior scheme.
3.Blush tones – Blush is back! Blush is the colour of the moment and it certainly looks like it isn’t going anywhere soon. You might remember that we posted about our love for all things pink previously. At TL we think it is a gorgeous tone to create a soft and tranquil space, compliment with a green accent colour and your scheme is good to go!
4.Geometric patterns – A geometric pattern doesn’t need to be in the form of a loud wallpaper, we love to use a geometric pattern in a subtle way to add texture to our schemes, spot some of our favourites on cushions and benches.
5.Textures – There were textures aplenty to be seen during design month. We love incorporating a variety of textures in our schemes and final designs at Tailored Living, whether it’s through wallpaper, fabrics or styling, we carefully consider each textural element. Using a Linen wallcovering can add a luxurious, subtle texture to your walls.
6.Double dressing windows – Double dressed window treatments are another favourite here in the TL studio. Using a sheer fabric to create a privacy blind or curtain doesn’t have to feel old fashioned and dowdy, take a look at our recent Surrey project to see how we have used privacy blinds and curtains throughout in a contemporary and stylish way.
7.Natural materials – We’ve saved the best until last, an abundance of natural materials was seen during design month and it’s a trend we adore at TL! Book-matched Marble can offer a luxurious touch to bespoke furniture or bathrooms, or, for a truly special effect, the use of back lit Onyx is a must. See the result of a stunning ground floor bathroom in our recent Surrey project.
We’re sure these trends will be around for a good while and whilst we do not want to wave goodbye to our favourites, we can’t wait to see the offerings that 2020 will serve up!
